Bill Lavender, New Orleans poet, editor and publisher, will read at Boulder Coffee, 100 Alexander St., Rochester, at 7 pm on April 16 and also give a presentation at 4 pm April 16 in the College of Liberal Arts Faculty Commons (06.1251) at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The director of the Low Residency Creative Writing program at the University of New Orleans and managing editor of the University of New Orleans Press will lead a workshop for students, and later do a public reading and book signing.
Lavender’s poetry and essays have appeared in numerous magazines and journals such as Jubilat, New Orleans Review, Gulf Coast Review, YAWP, Fell, Poetics Today and Contemporary Literature. His books also include I of the Storm (Trembling Pillow 2006), While Sleeping (Chax Press 2004), look the universe is dreaming (Potes and Poets 2002), and Guest Chain (Lavender Ink 1999). He is currently co-editing an issue of Big Bridge on New Orleans poetry. His most recent book, transfixion, is coming in 2009.
